Hospital Information

The hospital is a 260-bed, nonprofit, full-service surgical and acute care medical facility. It has served the Lincoln community since 1889. The hospital's neonatal intensive care unit and high-risk obstetrics department (NICU) received Gold Seals of Approval™ from The Joint Commission. The facility is also home to a dedicated labor, delivery and recovery floor, as well as private birthing suites.

The Location

Lincoln is located in Lancaster County, Nebraska. It is the state capital and second-largest city in the state, with more than 277,000 residents.

The local economy is powered by service industry, manufacturing, government, education and healthcare.

Lincoln is served Interstate 80, StarTran public bus system, and the Lincoln Airport.

Arts and Entertainment

The city's popular local attractions include the Lincoln Children's Zoo, Mueller Planetarium, Sunken Gardens, the state capitol, the Frank H. Woods Telephone Museum and the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed.

Lincoln residents enjoy live musical performances at multiple venues, including Pinnacle Bank Arena, Duffy's Tavern, the Zoo Bar, and Bourbon Theatre. The Lied Center hosts national Broadway tours, the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, guest lecturers and concerts. The city is home to several community theaters as well, including the Haymarket Theater, Lincoln Community Playhouse and the Loft at The Mill.

Each year, Lincoln hosts a number of events, including farmers markets, the Lincoln National Guard Marathon and Half-Marathon, International Thespian Festival, Uncle Sam Jam, Lancaster County Fair, Boo at the Zoo and more.

Lincoln is home to more than 125 recreational parks, which are connected by a system of trails, including the MoPac Trail. It is also home to NCAA Division I sports teams, a minor league baseball team, a USHL junior ice hockey team and No Coast Derby Girls.

Education

The city is served by Lincoln Public Schools as well as several private schools.

Institutions of higher education include the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Bryan College of Health Sciences, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Union College and Southeast Community College, as well as satellite campuses of Bellevue University, Kaplan University, Doane University and Concordia University (Nebraska).
