The hospital is a 460-bed full-service acute care and surgical medical center. It has served the Atlanta community since 1901. The hospital is home to 20 private birthing suites, eight high-risk perinatal rooms, a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and water birthing services.

The city boasts 343 parks, gardens and nature preserves, including Piedmont Park, which is known as the "Central Park of the South." Atlantans cycle, hike, walk and jog on the 22-mile Atlanta BeltLine, which connects much of the city's core.

The city is served by Atlanta Public Schools as well as a number of private schools.

Atlanta is home to more than 30 universities and colleges, including Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, Emory University, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine, Interdenominational Theological Center and a Savannah College of Art and Design campus.
