The 206-bed hospital is a specialty hospital that has served the San Diego community since 1992. A designated Baby-Friendly hospital that delivers more than 9,400 babies each year, it is home to a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), a perinatal special care unit, and education for new parents.

San Diego’s state parks offer opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and paragliding. The area is also home to more than 90 golf courses as well as trails for running and horseback riding.

Sports fans can get their fix cheering on MLB’s San Diego Padres and other professional sports teams in the area.

The city hosts many annual events, including the Extreme Sailing Series, Balboa Park December Nights, San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl, Beer Week, Fleet Week, Comic-Con, San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival and many more.

Education

The city is served by the San Diego Unified School District and four nearby school districts as well as several private schools.

Nearby public institutions of higher education include San Diego State University, University of California, San Diego, San Diego Community College District as well as numerous private colleges and universities.
