"Patients receive better care under OBHG. A pregnant woman should be seen by an experienced obstetrician, not a nurse. OBHG allows us to guarantee this improvement in care."
Collaborative Care. Not Competition.
Ob Hospitalist Group is fully committed to supporting private and hospital staff physicians. As a veteran OB/GYN, Dr. Chris Swain understands the unique demands confronting community providers. He founded Ob Hospitalist Group and created the Obstetrical Emergency Department Model, commonly referred to as an OBED with the vision of providing emergent care to pregnant women in a safe environment while supporting community providers. We believe that every successful Labor and Delivery department and every OB/GYN hospitalist program begins with a strong OB/GYN physician team. That’s why OBHG developed an OBED model that partners with and supports the private physician. No competition. No conflicts of interest. Just support when and where you need it most.
There to Support You
OBHG hospitalists understand the challenges of operating a private practice and welcome an opportunity to support you. By partnering with Ob Hospitalist Group, you have the support of highly qualified OB/GYN physicians without the burden of added physician management. When you take advantage of our in-house obstetrics services, you can count on:
OBHG hospitalists are prohibited from having affiliations with local private practices, so there is no threat of patient recruitment. Many of our hospitalists serve on hospital committees, assist with resident education, and are routinely honored by their colleagues and their communities. They are a key resource for the healthcare system in which they practice.
OBHG hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to support you by caring for your patients when you desire time off for nights, weekends, holidays, or simply a normal vacation.
OBHG respects physician-patient relationships. We accommodate your wishes in terms of when you would like care to be offered to your patients.
We ensure you are notified prior to a patient’s discharge from triage and/or upon admission to your service.
OBHG hospitalists are available to assist with emergencies and surgical procedures.

“Two weeks ago they saved a life, and it wasn’t the first time: I delivered a healthy baby for my patient and all signs looked good—so I left knowing that one of my partners was coming on shift in 20 minutes. My patient started hemorrhaging post-partum and little did I know, my partner was delayed. So there was a potential 45-minute gap where this woman could have died, had the Ob Hospitalist Group not been there to step in. Disaster was averted because of their presence.”
