Ob Hospitalist Group Congratulates Cheryl Slack, Winner of Top 10 Human Resources Professional Icon Award
GREENVILLE, S.C.—Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG), the nation’s largest and only dedicated provider of customized OB/GYN hospitalist programs, is pleased to announce Chief Human Resources Officer Cheryl Slack was recognized as one of the “Top 10 Human Resources Professionals” for the 2021 OnCon Icon Awards. Slack was selected from among hundreds of nominations for the distinguished honor, and her accomplishment was announced during the 2021 OnConference.
The OnCon Icon awards recognize the top human resources professionals and vendors from a global pool of applicants. Those nominated for the award are then voted on by their peers to determine finalists, including whether they made a considerable impact on their organization and/or previous organizations, made strong contributions to their professional community through thought leadership, innovate in their role/career and exhibit exceptional leadership.
“Since joining our organization in 2019, Cheryl has propelled our human capital strategies to new heights and enriched the culture of OBHG,” said Lenny Castiglione, CEO of OBHG. “Her leadership beyond human resources, as a true business partner to our entire leadership team, has been an essential part of our company’s continued success, particularly during the uncertainty created for many during COVID-19. We’re proud of her accomplishments and pleased to see the recognition for her efforts from the HR community.”
Since joining the organization in 2019, Slack has led efforts to reshape OBHG’s culture to ensure employees and clinicians remain united around the common cause of providing life-saving healthcare to expectant moms and babies. Through new value-based initiatives, Cheryl overhauled OBHG’s hiring processes, retention strategies, performance management processes and employee engagement so that all team members understand the value they bring to the organization.
As part of OBHG’s hiring processes, Slack implemented new tools to assist in evaluating how well a clinician will embrace OBHG’s culture, making a major difference in retention and recruitment. Thanks to Cheryl’s leadership, OBHG’s recruiting team has had great success in filling positions throughout the pandemic, further strengthening OBHG clinician teams.
“I am honored to be recognized among the top 10 HR professionals. This accolade is not only about me, but truly recognizes the entire OBHG human resources team and what they do for our organization,” said Slack. “The fact that my OBHG teammates took the time to vote means more to me than the award and I am overwhelmed and humbled by their support.”
Slack brings more than 25 years of diverse experience in leadership and executive roles. She received a bachelor’s degree in business management from the West Virginia Institute of Technology. The full list of OnCon Icon 2021 Award Winners is available at www.onconferences.com/2021-hr-winners.
